If you have the possibility, please just do not esithate to follow up and spend two days /one night (which is pretty enought) in a Longhouse.
I had my experience in the tribal village called Serdang, a couple of hours ride from Berastagi.
The village was compoused of about ten buildings (Longhouses) and in everyone there where about 15/20 families living, plus a local that was a bar or a meeting point for the man (only mans!!!) of the village.
Remeber that into the longhouse the womans do every activity, from cooking to washing, so the percentuage of the fog is drammatically high...and remember also that the longhouse is open on both side (no door) but you have anyway to take your shoes off...
The main activity of the village was the agricolture, and here it seems to be in the beginning of the last century: no electricity, every one is back at home at 8pm, (altough mans will leave the longhouse after dinner to have a meet at the meeting point with all the other mans, as the woman cannot leave the longhouse!!!!) and to reach the bathrooms and the showers (well, these are a biiiiiig words I would say!) you should take your own light (no electricity, second remind!) and walk downhill for about 500 meters...a great experience!
During my stay, I spent all the time with the population (which was about 100 people, one more one less), speaking with them, eating with them, watching them have a work and so on...you know, I was not a guest, I was just a part of them, without any homework ):-
If you are going to get to such villages, you have to keep in mind that those people are not so used to get in touch with tourist, so avoid any kind of video cam, sweets and so on...Bring some old clothes, pens, paper and so on...
